Dr. Tamara Albertini is a Swiss-American Professor and Chair of Philosophy at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa (UHM), specializing in Renaissance and Islamic thought, and the UHM Director of the Islamic Studies program. Dr. Albertini also lectures at the East-West Center and the Asia Pacific Center for Security Studies.

She has a Lic.phil. from the University of Basel (Switzerland) and a Dr.phil. from the
Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich (Germany). She has received the UHM Excellence in Teaching Award (2016) and the Distinguished Scholar Award for Islamic and Contemporary Arab Philosophy from Cairo University (2019).


Dr. Albertini has made many media appearances. She was interviewed multiple times by Beth-Ann Kozlovich on Hawai'i Public Radio Show, by the Swiss National Radio and TV, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, and various leading Bulgarian newspapers.
