William F. Anonsen is the Managing Partner/Principal of The Maritime Group with regionally offices in London, Singapore, Seattle and Honolulu. Born in Norway, he comes from a long-line of professional mariners and has worked in the maritime industry for the past 40+ years, engaged in global transportation, international relations and port development projects. Hawaii’s central location appropriately bridges the times zones of the eastern and western Pacific, and more importantly the diversity of global cultures and international trading partners. He attended the State University of New York Maritime College and American Military University.
Previously, Bill worked for various maritime companies, including Norwegian Cruise Lines and American Hawaii Cruises/United States Lines where he served as Vice President-Maritime Affairs. Prior he worked for Hong Kong based Jardine Matheson, Matson Navigation Company and other maritime companies where he had operational oversight of company vessels and the management of international marine logistics and terminal support operations.
Bill currently serves on a variety of non-profit boards, including the American Red Cross Pacific Island Region; Coast Guard Foundation Board of Trustees; Honolulu Firefighters Foundation; Marimed Foundation; Merchant Marine Affairs Committee; and is a Member of the Overseas Advisory Security Council-Bureau of Diplomatic Security-U.S. State Department; Council Member U.S. Department of Commerce-Hawaii Pacific Export Council; an advisor to the United Nations-International Maritime Organization (IMO); and Lifetime Member of Navy League of the United States; and various community and industry organizations.
