University of Hawai’i President DR. David Lassner

Dr. David Lassner is the 15th president of the University of Hawaiʻi. In that capacity he simultaneously leads the 10-campus system and Hawaiʻi’s flagship research university, UH Mānoa. Lassner worked in Information Technology (IT) at UH from 1977 to 2013, working his way from entry-level staff to become UH’s first Chief Information Officer and then its first Vice President for IT. He began his service as UH President in 2013.

Lassner earned an AB in economics and an MS in computer science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) and his PhD in communication and information sciences at the University of Hawaiʻi.
