Dr. Lynn Babington is the tenth president of Chaminade University of Honolulu, a thriving Marianist institution with a strong liberal arts tradition and a public service mission that seeks to inspire students to become ethical leaders who change the world for the better.
At the core of Babington’s philosophy on educational leadership is a conviction that students always come first. Since being named president of Chaminade in 2017, Babington has worked with faculty and staff across campus to create a robust and caring academic environment for students that strive for excellence, offers relevant and industry-informed development programs, and fosters opportunities for both hands-on learning and personal growth.
In addition to her work at Chaminade, Babington volunteers for several boards and organizations. She is a member of the Hawaii Business Roundtable, serves on the board of the Pacific Asian Affairs Counsel, Girl Scouts Hawaii, St. Francis Healthcare system and the Queen’s Health Care System.
Before taking the helm at Chaminade, Babington served in leadership roles at Fairfield University, including as provost and senior vice president for academic affairs.
Babington also spent a number of years at Northeastern University in Boston, where she was assistant dean for graduate programs and the director for the school of nursing.
Prior to joining academia, Babington was a nursing and healthcare leader and consultant and wasselected as a Fulbright Scholar and a Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellow.
Babington earned her masters and doctoral degrees in nursing from the University of Washington and her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan. She is married with two children and two grandchildren.
